Fort Duffield, West Point, Kentucky - March 30, 2009
My sister and her husband came to visit me in Kentucky, so we decided to check out some of the local sights. Fort Duffield sits at the mouth of the Salt River and was built to protect a Union Army supply base in West Point. Constructed of earthen walls designed to absorb cannonballs, these are the remains of one of the best-preserved Civil War fortifications in the state.
