B&W Printing Workshop, San Jose, California - January 21, 2020
I lived in the Bay Area for a number of years before moving back to San Diego. It was during that time that I first connected with Oliver Klink through his workshops — I attended his grebe workshop in Oregon, a hummingbird shoot in the Santa Cruz mountains, and the San Francisco Carnival 2013 workshop.
Oliver, through Incredible Travel Photos, offered a B&W digital printing class in January of this year — and the timing couldn’t have been better. I’d been seriously considering buying a new large format printer and was eager to get back into printing. On top of that, Oliver works with a unique specialty ink set, and I wanted to see the process and the finished prints up close. I was seriously tempted, though the main drawback is that you have to dedicate an entire printer to these inks.
