Cabrillo National Monument, Point Loma, California - August 21, 2020
Our PPS Meetup group headed up to the Cabrillo Lighthouse for a sunset shoot. While this location is normally closed after dark, August was special -- the park was commemorating the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. To mark the occasion, the park service lit the lighthouse in purple and gold, the colors of the women’s suffrage movement.
It was an unusually muggy night for San Diego, but that didn’t keep people away. I hadn’t been to the monument in years, and a park ranger mentioned she hadn’t seen it this busy -- a bit of a silver lining from the pandemic keeping folks exploring locally. A couple of the photos also capture the two cruise ships anchored out in the harbor, stuck in San Diego since everything shut down, only allowed back in periodically for supplies.
