New York, New York - August 1, 2001

In August 2001, just one month before the September 11 attacks, I was in New York City for work. I had a meeting at the World Trade Center with an insurance company where we were planning a training session for September. I also visited the city with a couple of coworkers. We started at the Brooklyn Bridge and walked out to the midspan before turning back. Nearby is the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, housed in an old tenement building. They offer a fascinating walking tour through rooms decorated to reflect different time periods. We then hopped on a bus and visited Saint Paul's Chapel and its adjacent churchyard cemetery. St. Paul's later became a well-known gathering place and relief center for rescue workers in the days following the September 11 attacks.
