Mare Island, Vallejo, California - January 22, 2013
I discovered a night photography group called the Nocturnes, run by Ted Baskerville. Ted runs several workshops around the Bay Area, and I attended one of these on the Marin Headlands where we light painted several of the old gun batteries. That event earned me "membership" in the Nocturnes. A couple of times a year Ted would organize a group night shoot in association with the Mare Island Foundation. We started the day with a tour of the Mare Island Museum, the historic cemetery, and the headlands, then returned to a pizza dinner while waiting for darkness to fall.
