Charles Schulz Museum and Redwood Empire Ice Arena, Santa Rosa, California - April 30, 2013
Peanuts has been my go-to comic strip since I was a kid. I couldn't get enough of Snoopy — especially when he was in his WWI Flying Ace persona. I hadn't realized until much later that Charles Schulz had lived in Santa Rosa, California for most of his life. I couldn't believe my luck when they built a museum in his honor near his studio and right next to the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, where he regularly played hockey. The museum features a rotating collection of his original artwork along with furniture from his home and studio — a wonderful tribute to a true American icon. Outside the Ice Arena, a variety of Peanuts character statues are scattered throughout the courtyard, which is a delight to explore.
