Berkeley Kite Festival, Berkeley, California - July 28, 2013
I've always loved flying kites, though before this I had only been to one kite festival — held at Pacific Beach back when I lived in San Diego. I was hoping Berkeley would offer an even wider variety, and it delivered! The Japanese team stole the show with their enormous kite sporting an incredibly intricate bridle system — truly impressive to watch in action. It was also my first time seeing a stunt kite competition, which was exciting and fast-paced. The large shaped kites were stunning in scale, though perhaps a bit too static for my taste — but they made for some fantastic photos!
