Sacramento Historic City Cemetery and California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento, California - September 28, 2013
Sacramento has two places I keep coming back to. I’ve always had a love of trains, and the California State Railroad Museum does not disappoint — the collection and displays are truly incredible. On this visit, there was a special exhibit featuring photographs documenting the construction of the transcontinental railroad. Most of the images were stereo cards, and alongside them the museum had assembled a wonderful collection of period stereo viewers and cameras.
I’ve also developed a deep appreciation for historic cemeteries, and Sacramento’s Historic City Cemetery is one of the finest. Established in 1849, the grounds were beautifully landscaped in the Victorian garden style — a peaceful and fascinating place to explore.
