Bodie State Park, California – May 30, 2021
I had originally scheduled a Bodie workshop for May 2020, but COVID put that on hold. A year later, it finally happened — and it was worth the wait! This special workshop gave us after-hours access to the ghost town with the goal of photographing the Milky Way over the iconic ruins. The day before heading to Bodie, we did a practice shoot out at the Mono Craters to get warmed up. We started the trip based in Lee Vining, then relocated to Virginia Creek to shorten the nightly drive out to Bodie.
During one of our afternoon breaks I took the opportunity to drive into Bridgeport and soak at the Travertine Hot Springs — a perfect way to recharge between late nights of shooting.
